Rehabilitation center "Jaunķemeri" offers the following state co-financed services:
Medical rehabilitation for people after Covid-19 infection confirmed by lab tests
(Diagnosis in the medical history: U07.1. - Covid-19, if the virus has been detected)
Jaunķemeri Rehabilitation Centre offers state co-funded rehabilitation to people after Covid-19.
There are 3 options to choose from depending on the patient's complaints, complications and doctor’s opinion.
Criteria: The patients satisfying all three criteria are eligible for the services at the medical facility:
- 1. After Covid-19, mild disorders on one functional level (according to the ICF) have developed or aggravated which limits person’s ability to work or carry out daily activities, but does not affect person’s ability to take care of themselves;
- 2. The patient has at least one of the following symptoms:
- 2.1. mild respiratory distress;
- 2.2. mild to moderate cardiovascular insufficiency;
- 2.3. neurological damage;
- 2.4. musculoskeletal symptoms;
- 2.5. other clinical presentations.
- 3. The patient does not require 24-hour medical observation or oxygen support.
Duration: with a referral from a GP – 5x, with a referral from a physical and rehabilitation medicine specialist – 10x
Service availability: children and adults
Patient charge: EUR 0
- 1. After Covid-19, moderate, complex disorders on at least two functional levels (according to the International Classification of Functioning) have developed or aggravated which limits person’s mobility or ability to work or carry out daily activities, but do not affect person’s ability to take care of themselves in a significant way;
- 2. The patient needs rehabilitation under observation of a multidiscipline rehabilitation team;
- 3. The patient is capable and motivated to participate in at least 2 hours of intensive or moderately intensive therapy;
- 4. The patient has at least one of the following symptoms:
- 4.1. mild/moderate respiratory distress;
- 4.2. mild to moderate cardiovascular insufficiency;
- 4.3. neurological damage;
- 4.4. musculoskeletal symptoms;
- 4.5. other clinical presentations.
- 5. The patient does not require 24-hour medical observation, but may require oxygen support during physical activity.
Duration: according to the rehabilitation plan
Service availability: children and adults
Patient charge: EUR 7 (except patient categories exempt from the patient charge)
Criteria: The services at the medical facility are offered to the patients with functional disorders, provided all of the following patient eligibility criteria are satisfied:
- 1. Person’s medical condition is stable, but the patient requires 24-hour observation by medical professionals;
- 2. The patient is capable and motivated to participate in at least 2 hours of intensive or moderately intensive therapy;
- 3. The patient needs rehabilitation under observation of a multidiscipline rehabilitation team;
- 4. There is confirmed progress during acute treatment or other evidence of expected functional improvements within a reasonable period as a result of the rehabilitation;
- 5. There are clearly defined goals for the relevant treatment phase;
- 6. The patient has complex functional disorders on at least two functional levels (according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF));
- 7. Moderate/severe respiratory distress (oxygen saturation during self-care activities falls below 92%);
- 8. Moderate/severe cardiovascular insufficiency;
- 9. Neurological damage;
- 10. Musculoskeletal symptoms;
- 11. Other clinical presentations.

- Electrocardiogram (ECG);
- Cycle ergometer test;
- Echocardiogram (echo).
- Laboratory clinical and biochemical blood tests
Doctor consultations available directly without a GP referral:
- Endocrinologist consultation (for sugar diabetes patients)
- Gynaecologist/obstetrician consultation

Home care
Jaunķemeri Rehabilitation Centre offers free medical rehabilitation at home to stroke patients with the following diagnoses who live in Jūrmala and Engure Region:
- I60 (Subarachnoid haemorrhage)
- I61 (Intracerebral haemorrhage)
- I63 (Cerebral infarction)
- I64 (Stroke, not specified as haemorrhage or infarction)
! Within 3 months after the acute event.
Rehabilitation at home is provided by occupational therapist and physiotherapist according to the developed rehabilitation plan.
What is required:
- Referral (Cabinet Regulations No. 265, Appendix 94/Form) from a physical
- and rehabilitation medicine specialist and a medical rehabilitation plan
If the patient has already been discharged from the hospital:
- their GP shall arrange a home visit by a rehabilitation therapist or a physical and rehabilitation medicine specialist (free of charge);
- a referral for home rehabilitation services and a rehabilitation plan shall be drawn up.
