Physical Therapy

Magnētterapija Jaunķemeros

Physical therapy is a branch of medicine that uses various natural factors, such as heat, air and light, and altered natural factors, such as microwaves, mechanical energy, etc. Physical therapy methods act on the body tissues with the aid of technologies. It helps accelerate healing processes and receive maximum effect from rehabilitation in a problem area.

WHAT IS AEROTHERAPY?

Aerotherapy is a method of climate therapy which uses atmospheric air for healing and prophylaxis. The main therapeutic factor of aerotherapy is outdoor air containing pine needles, phytoncides and sea water aerosols. Anticyclones add such therapeutic factors as solar radiation, ultraviolet and infrared radiation, and air temperature, humidity and wind speed also play their role.

HOW AEROTHERAPY WORKS

It trains thermoregulation of the body and conditions the body making it less sensitive to cooling, improves lung ventilation, heart activity, blood composition, promotes oxygen delivery to tissues and normalises sleep. Tissue demand for oxygen increases, gas exchange intensifies, blood supply to internal organs improves and the nervous system tone normalises. Aerotherapy normalises arterial blood pressure and alleviates headache.

AEROTHERPAY SESSIONS

Aerotherapy sessions take place on the terrace on the 8th floor of the Rehabilitation Centre depending on the weather conditions (air temperature, wind direction and speed, precipitation and humidity). Sessions take place only in suitable weather conditions, i.e. air temperature above -10 °C without precipitation or strong wind gusts.

Electrotherapy Price List

WHAT IS ELECTROTHERAPY?

Electrotherapy methods use many physical factors, which are present in nature, in a modified or non-modified form. During electrotherapy treatment, the body is exposed to low voltage direct current, so called galvanic current. At Jaunķemeri, we offer the following types of electrotherapy:

  • Electrophoresis
  •
  • SMC therapy
  •
  • Diadynamic therapy
  •
  • Fluctuating current therapy
  •
  • Interferential current therapy
  •
  • D'Arsonval current therapy, etc.
  •

HOW ELECTROTHERAPY WORKS

Electrotherapy treatments act on the body through the skin improving blood and lymph circulation, stimulating absorption processes in the tissues, alleviating pain, reducing oedema, reducing inflammation, normalising organ functions and boosting the body’s resistance.

WHEN IT IS RECOMMENDED

  • Spinal spondylosis; disc protrusions and hernias
  • Back, joint, bone and muscle pain
  • Adhesions, scar tissue
  • Complications after fractures; dislocations, sprains, bruises
  • Headache
  • Leg vessel disorders (varicose veins), etc.

Magnetic Therapy Price List

WHAT IS MAGNETIC THERAPY?

Magnetic therapy is a method of physical therapy which uses static or impulse low frequency magnetic field.

HOW MAGNETIC THERAPY WORKS AND WHEN IT IS RECOMMENDED

In medicine, magnetic therapy is used to not only prevent pain and muscle spasms, reduce swelling and inflammation, improve microcirculation and metabolism, but also strengthen the health of the feet, facilitate wound healing, and soften and minimise scar tissue. It can also be beneficial in treatment of varicose veins, radiculopathy, osteochondrosis, etc.

WHEN IT IS RECOMMENDED

  • Connective tissue disorders
  • Musculoskeletal disorders
  • Nervous system disorders
  • After injuries

Ultrasound Therapy Price List

WHAT IS ULTRASOUND THERAPY?

Ultrasound therapy is a method of physical therapy that acts by converting the energy of ultrasonic waves into heat energy. Ultrasound is generated by special equipment.

HOW ULTRASOUND THERAPY WORKS

The mechanism of action and therapeutic effect of ultrasound are based on three factors, i.e. mechanical, thermal and physico-chemical exposure, resulting in local and general changes in the body. Ultrasound can help deliver various medicinal products into soft tissues meaning that pharmacological properties of those products will act in addition to the ultrasound effects.

Ultrasound treatment is used to alleviate pain, fight inflammation and to strengthen the immune system and the body in general.

WHEN IT IS RECOMMENDED

  • Joint and spine disorders
  • Ligament and muscle sprains
  • Acute and chronic inflammatory processes
  • Acute and chronic inflammatory processes
  • Skin conditions

Salt Therapy Price List

WHAT IS SALT THERAPY?

Halotherapy (salt therapy) dates back to ancient Greece. The name comes from Greek halos, which means salt. It is also known that monks used salt caves to heal people.

It has taken more than 20 years to develop an innovative technology for salt therapy in an artificial salt cave where microclimate is as close as possible to that in naturally occurring salt caves.

HOW SALT THERAPY WORKS

Salt kills bacteria and fungi on mucosa thus strengthening the immune system. That is exactly why children who have received salt treatment are considerably stronger and get sick less often. Salt therapy facilitates breathing through the nose and reduces rhinitis. Salt aerosols contain negative ions and are good for the nervous system relieving stress and preventing insomnia.

WHEN IT IS RECOMMENDED

Salt therapy is especially beneficial for asthma patients and people with frequent respiratory conditions, such as rhinitis, cough, tonsillitis or ear infections. Salt therapy is important for prevention of common colds, strengthening the immune system, relieving allergy symptoms, reducing cough symptoms. It is also good as prophylaxis for patients with bronchial asthma and for calming nerves

WHAT HAPPENS DURING SALT THERAPY

During treatment sessions, patients sit in lounge chairs and breathe in air ionised by salt. It is recommended to breathe in through the nose and breathe out through the mouth. During the sessions, a halogenerator, which is an essential part of salt therapy, provides a uniform stream of salt aerosols. Walls and floor of the salt room are covered in multiple layers of salt creating antibacterial and antiallergic environment. The therapeutic effect is enhanced by relaxing music and dimmed light during the sessions.

Session duration is 30 minutes.

Lympho Drainage Price List

WHAT IS lYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Lympho drainage is a mechanical massage technique using pressurised air gradually inflating air boots and hip belt.

HOW Lympho drainage WORKS

  • Boosts metabolism
  • Improves blood circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Helps remove harmful metabolic products, i.e. toxins, from the body
  • Reduces fatigue, relaxes
  • Prevents excessive liquid accumulation
  • Reduces oedema
  • Alleviates pain
  • Reduces cellulite, improves skin elasticity
  • Reduces thigh, hip, buttock and abdominal circumference

WHEN IT IS RECOMMENDED

This treatment helps reduce cellulite and various oedemas and improve venous outflow. It is a very effective procedure for the ‘heavy’ and swollen leg problem. The treatment is effective for weak upper leg, hip, buttock and abdominal connective tissues. It is recommended after pregnancy and for people with sedentary lifestyle as a preventive measure.

HOW LYMPHO DRAINAGE IS DONE

With patient lying on the bed, boots made of special material are put on the patient’s legs and sometimes a belt made of the same material is placed on the hips. All parts are connected to a pneumatic compression pump which pressurises air, via special pressure tubes. Automatically pressure is evenly distributed inside the boots and the belt creating soft, rhythmical pressure waves. Within seconds, they move from toes or ankles up to thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen. After that, the pressure over all body parts automatically drops and the next pressurisation phase begins. The pressure value and pressurisation rate are adjusted for each customer individually.

Treatment duration is 30-40 minutes.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE SESSION

Comfortable clothes and socks.
